Why do we charge admission?
The NSW Government determines which public institutions charge admission fees. As a non-profit institution we need to self-generate over one third of our total revenue to meet our operating costs. If you would like to support us please consider becoming a Member and enjoying the many benefits this offers; buying a souvenir from our retail shop; or donating to the Australian Museum Foundation.
Terms and conditions apply to your entry to the Australian Museum.
If you leave the Museum re-entry is free on the day. Please retain your ticket and simply present it to our Admission staff when you return.
For temporary exhibitions where admission charges apply you will be issued with a ticket. You can usually leave the exhibition and re-enter on the same day provided you show your ticket and the exhibition is not extremely busy.
