The tropical snappers, family Lutjanidae, are an important group of about 125 species, many of which are of commercial importance. This project seeks to describe the larval development of as many species as possible in order to document the full morphological diversity of lutjanid ontogeny. Then, using this information, a phylogeny of the family is being constructed. This will be tested against phylogenies derived from adult morphology and adult genetics.
