Vic Simms is a Bidjigal man born on the La Perouse Mission. An international recording artist, Uncle Vic recently celebrated 60 years in show business, with his first professional performance at age 11. Vic was the first Aboriginal man to appear on commercial TV.

His debut album, The Loner, first released in 1973, has been named in The 110 Best Australian Albums: The Ultimate List of Australia’s Best and Most Influential Music of All Time, a compendium of the best rock and pop albums of the past 50 years produced by former Rolling Stones Australia. A protest album, the songs illustrated the reality about life as young Aboriginal man growing up in Sydney in the 1950s and 60s.

More recently, Vic has continued his activism by providing cultural awareness programs in schools, universities and within the tourism sector.
