There is no standard format for citing online content. Arguably the format may not be critical if it ensures the resource can be found.

We suggest using the following format for citing fish content.

Author's name (last name, initials). Document title. Date of Internet publication. Date of access. <URL>

An example for citing the Humpback Scorpionfish page would be written as follows.

McGrouther, M. Humpback Scorpionfish, Scorpaenopsis macrochir Ogilby, 1910, Australian Museum Website. Published 28 February 2013. Accessed <insert current date>. http://australian.museum/Humpback-Scorpionfish-Scorpaenopsis-macrochir

To avoid transcription errors, we recommend copying and pasting the URL from the browser rather than typing it.
