Sally Lightfoot Crab - Bruce Gimber

During 2010 I was lucky enough to visit the Galapagos Islands. Along the Espanola seashore were numerous Sally Lightfoot Crabs, often observed to be jostling for the most prominent position on the rocks. This photograph required careful manipulation of the camera close to the waves. The crab is thought to be named by visiting sailors, after a Caribbean nightclub dancer.
