Parelasmopus poorei

Parelamopus poorei is a recently documented new species of marine amphipod crustacean. The drawing is a male specimen 11.0 mm. The species is known from Point Ricardo and Wilsons Promontory in Victoria , as well as several locations in lower Western Australia, occurring in water 7 -67 m deep. Parelasmopus poorei is the sixth species in the genus Parelasmopus recorded in Australia and the twelfth in the world.

The species was described as part of a special issue of papers in celebration of the career of Dr G.C.B. Poore, a recently retired Australian Crustacean worker.
