Gaetano wrote "I observed several leatherjackets with wounds like the one on the face of this fish. I probably was able to count more than 10 in 2 dives."

Leatherjacket expert Dr Barry Hutchins wrote "This seems to be a concentration of the normal mucous that covers the scales. Perhaps it concentrates in areas which have been damaged or scratched when feeding."
