This dance mask (eharo or oa heaha) was worn by a young man during an adult initiation (kaiva kuku) in Gulf Province of Papua New Guinea. Masks were usually burnt after the ceremony. It was acquired in 1913 from Mr Sidney Macdonnell, a trader who lived in Orokolo Bay in Gulf Province.
