The 'Find a fish' table contains a listing of all known Australian fish families.  For each family, the columns to the right show how many species are on the site, and how many species are currently known to occur in Australian waters.

The number of species in each family has been taken from Hoese, D.F., Bray, D.J., Paxton, J.R. & G.R. Allen. 2006. Fishes. In Beesley, P.L. & A. Wells. (eds) Zoological Catalogue of Australia. Volume 35. ABRS & CSIRO Publishing: Australia. parts 1-3, pages 1-2178. (online at the Australian Faunal Directory)
