Alexander Walker Scott made an extensive entomological collection, and recorded his observations of individual specimens by making hand coloured drawings, which were referenced to a series of detailed notebooks. In the early days Scott's stepdaughters Fanny and Mary assisted him in this project, and later his own daughters Helena and Harriet were to continue this work.
