Wild Yoga for kids

Led by yoga teacher and Play School presenter Rachael Coopes, Wild Yoga is set in the stunning Wild Planet exhibition at the Australian Museum, beneath a 17m whale skeleton and surrounded by 400 other animals including lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

Children wear wireless headsets, that tune out everything but music, live audio cues and stories shared by the instructor.

No yoga experience required but a willingness to have fun is a must.

Rachael Coopes is a yoga teacher, Play School presenter, and storyteller. Her heart lies in the act of “creating”, across many forms, sharing stories and yoga philosophy in a playful, authentic and meaningful way. Over the past decade, she's shared the movement and philosophy of yoga with urban yogis, explored the incredible stories of young people in remote Northern Territory, and used the creative to inspire and educate leaders in the corporate space. She has completed over 800 hours of certification under the guidance of Jessica Stickler as well as the 300 hour Jivamukti, 200 hour Samadhi and 30 hour Samadhi Prenatal Teacher Trainings. Recently she completed the Maty Ezraty 100 Hour The Heart of a Teacher Yoga Teacher Training.

Museum Entrance, 1 William Street

Please note: this program occurs outside of Museum opening hours. Staff will greet and escort attendees into Museum at their session start time. Please try to arrive at least 5 minutes before your session start time for check-in.

Non-Member $29
AM Member $25

Price is per yoga mat and includes General Admission for accompanying adults. Bookings essential.

Adults can either share a mat with their child (no extra cost), or can purchase a second ticket to secure their own mat. Seating will be provided for adults not participating.

To note:

  • Yoga mats will be supplied for the class.
  • Adult participation is optional.
  • Attendees are welcome to stay and explore the Australian Museum after the event. From 9:30am visitors may also purchase entry to the current special exhibition Whales | Tohorā and dive into the immersive world of these ocean giants.
