THE CRITTER CLUB
Only at the Australian Museum can you find a clubhouse dedicated to the study of creepy crawlies. Sort through leaf litter to find and identify insects, then study them under a microscope; examine our collection of live spiders and stick insects; visit the AM’s new bee hive; and make your own upcycled critter at the crafts station and go home with a goody bag!
Ages: 4-7 years
When: 10.30am-12pm, 12 - 20 January
Drop-off point: Museum entrance. Parents are required to sign children in and out before departing.
Cost: $25 Member Child | $35 Non-Member Child (includes General Admission)
Spin out with a giant spider web and decorate your own colourful peacock spider! Inspired by our 'Spiders - Alive and Deadly' exhibition, we invite you to drop-in and create your own spider to take home or populate our giant spider web! Let your imagination run wild in this gigantic crafts workshop where we hope to be dazzled by coulourful peacock spiders, climbing orb weavers and more!
Ages: Children 3+
When: Drop in anytime between 10.30am-3.00pm
Cost: $5 per child. No bookings required. Purchase tickets at Admissions, or in cash on Level 1.
PLAYGROUND SOUNDS - GLOW WORM DISCO
Kids will get active at this fun and unique silent disco which will see them GLOW! Playground Sounds is silent disco that encourages kids to get up and dance! Participants wear a headset and choose between three channels of music from resident DJ’s. Movements are also tracked using wristbands that monitor heart rates!
SHORT FILM SCREENING: STICKY, BRIGHT SPOTS AND THE LORD HOWE ISLAND EXPEDITION
Join us for a screening of Jilli Rose's animated films Sticky (2014, 20 mins) and Bright Spots (2016, 8 mins) together with a Q&A session with AM scientists who are about to embark on an expedition to Lord Howe Island!
When: 10.30am-11.30am, 23 & 24 January
Cost: $8 per person after general admission | Kids under 16 gain free general admission
