Guest Lecture: Sea Country, Hear Country

Aboriginal people hold extensive and valuable ecological knowledge about Country built up through observation and experimentation upon the landscape over tens of thousands of years. This knowledge can help us find solutions to sustainable resource management and helping to reverse the human footprint upon the environment. Join Chels Marshall, renowned expert in ecology and Aboriginal marine science, as she discusses Aboriginal ways of reading the sky, stories in the currents, and Aboriginal cycles of living.

She will explain how these cycles informed the development of a new digital seasonal calendar, which illustrates the important connections between living things. The lecture coincides with the launch of this digital exhibit at the Australian Museum.

2pm: Lecture

2:45pm: Q&A

3pm: Viewing of the digital seasonal calendar and complimentary drink
