At the Australian Museum we take our freshwater very seriously. As a habitat, as resource and as a valuable part of life! One of our outstanding Citizen Science programs, Streamwatch, is a water quality monitoring program that empowers community groups to monitor and protect the health of local waterways. You can join one of the local groups to monitor and make a difference in your local area.

Read about some of the fascinating creatures that make freshwater their home.

Plan your participation in World Water Day 2017 by checking out some of the wonderful resources available from the Australian Museum. Try a video conference, Museum in a Box® or simply take a moment to appreciate the important difference access to freshwater makes in your life.
