The Alexander the Great: 2000 years of treasures exhibition is exclusive to Sydney from 24 November 2012 to 28 April 2013. It will feature over 400 objects from classical antiquity through to the modern age, including the famous Gonzaga cameo and the polished black basalt statue of Cleopatra VII.

Students will gain an understanding and appreciation of Alexander the man and his significance in world history. The exhibition will explore the reality of his life; his family, career and death, and will also show the myth of Alexander, the different sides to his personality and the way he has been depicted through the ages.

Sculptures, paintings, textiles, armour, weaponry, coins, papyrus, architectural fragments and jewellery tell the fascinating story of a man and his awe-inspiring legacy, the great cultural and artistic changes that resulted from his conquests.

A Teacher Preview Night will be held on Wednesday 28th November and Higher School Certificate Enrichment Study Days will give senior students an in-depth look at the exhibition in February 2013.
