A new policy framework for the arts and cultural sector in NSW highlights some of the Museum’s key achievements and future plans.

The NSW Government yesterday announced a new policy framework for the arts and cultural sector in New South Wales. Called Create in NSW, the policy details a 10-year vision for the cultural sector, which includes the state’s major cultural institutions as well as many regional galleries and organisations.

Create in NSW is a platform for the arts and cultural sector, communities and business and government partners to collaboratively shape NSW’s cultural future. It supports vibrant arts and cultural activity across the State and is built on three mutually reinforcing ambitions – excellence, access and strength.

The policy recognises the key role of the Australian Museum and other cultural institutions in the visitor economy. As a case study, it highlights the Museum’s leading DigiVol and Volunteer Portal programs for their role in increasing regional access to the Museum and its collections.
