Progress on the Deep Oceans exhibition is swimming along at a cracking pace...

We have a number of great pieces for Deep Oceans currently on the workshop table in the Museum’s preparation workshop.

One object that is currently under construction is a model of an Anglerfish that will be highlighted in the exhibition along with a number of real life specimens from the Museum’s diverse ichthyology collection.

Here's a fun Deep Oceans fact: Anglerfish can extend their jaws and stomachs such that they can swallow prey twice as big as they are. This means they can stock up on food during times of plenty – something we maybe should have informed ‘prep’* of before they started work.
