How to play Whale Trail on the Australian Museum Games app

Ready to get on the Whale Trail and learn more about whales? Here's how the game works on your Australian Museum Games app:


Start by choosing a species or an object from the selection to learn more about it.

There are five whales and one cultural object featured in the Whale Trail game:

  • Great Sperm Whale, Physeter macrocephalus
  • Humpback Whales, Megaptera novaengliae
  • Indo-Pacific Humpaback Dolphin, Sousa chinensis
  • Sei Whale, Balaenoptera borealis
  • Gray's Beaked Whale, Mesoplodon grayi
  • Whalebone club, patu paraoa

Read the fun facts, listen to whale sounds, and test your knowledge to learn more about each whale species.

The whales featured in Whale Trail game can be activated and be brought to life! Walk around the museum to find them in their specified locations and look for a label with an image of a whale or an object near the object or specimen.

When you have discovered all five whales and one object, a trophy icon will appear on your main Whale Trail screen. Tap on this icon.
