Leonie Prater
Leonie Prater is a DigiVol Coordinator who has been a member of the DigiVol team since its inception in 2011. She has been a key player in developing this internationally recognised program by working closely with Collection staff and volunteers to digitise the Museum’s diverse range of Collections.
The volunteer digitising program has grown over the years with most Collections participating in the DigiVol program due to a recognition of the value and importance of this volunteer digitisation effort by the Museum.
Leonie has managed the recruitment, training and supervision of DigiVol volunteers in the lab to digitise specimens and archival records which complement the work of the Collection staff.
Prior to working at the Australian Museum, Leonie had an extensive career in NSW Government strategic planning and project management in community services. She managed Commonwealth/State innovative Statewide and regional programs to provide, improve and coordinate service delivery for some of the most disenfranchised people in the community.
Leonie volunteered for 5 years at the Taronga Zoo doing animal behaviour observations and currently, is a volunteer with the Telechat service at the Australian Red Cross.
