Abstract

This chapter explores the ideas surrounding communities of practice and how these could be applied in thinking about how to better engage hot topics and museum staff with Web 2.0 at an institutional level. It considers how to encourage a Web 2.0 mindset through addressing issues surrounding organisational change and learning. It concludes by discussing next generation “value networks” as an extension of communities of practice, that enable audiences to participate with museums on their own terms through drawing relevant information and engaging in discourse that is of value to them.
