I am honoured to have been asked to do a (re)read of the famous Falk and Dierking 1992 book The Museum Experience in anticipation of a revised version. Given the nature of change in our world and the ways I report on stuff I decided I'll blog about it as I go. Wish me luck!
It's been a short week but a productive one. Some beautiful images were added and work continues on the 'master fish list' for the site. Best wishes to all for the Festive Season! Thanks one and all for your contributions throughout the year.
Biodiversity is a crucial factor in the environmental, social and cultural health of a city. Biodiversity in the City of Sydney’s area has declined because of urban development – buildings and roads have taken away some of the habitat that used to provide a home for plants and animals. However, there are ways we can vastly increase the numbers of plants and animals and improve their diversity in our City. The City of Sydney is working with the Australian Museum to develop an Urban Ecology Strategic Action Plan.
On the 23rd January 2011, at 2.30pm, the Museum will host an Australia Day Debate. You can listen to our speakers, Sam Watson and Nigel Parbury, debate whether the 26th January is the most appropriate date to celebrate our national identity. You will also have the opportunity to ask them your own questions.
