Urban Biodiversity and the City of Sydney

Biodiversity is a crucial factor in the environmental, social and cultural health of a city. Biodiversity in the City of Sydney’s area has declined because of urban development – buildings and roads have taken away some of the habitat that used to provide a home for plants and animals. However, there are ways we can vastly increase the numbers of plants and animals and improve their diversity in our City. The City of Sydney is working with the Australian Museum to develop an Urban Ecology Strategic Action Plan.

You can listen to our speakers, Sam Watson and Nigel Parbury, debate whether the 26th January is the most appropriate date to celebrate our national identity. You will also have the opportunity to ask them your own questions.
