Movie: Pollen thieves

Roughly a third of native bees species swallow pollen for provisioning nesting chambers instead of carrying it on the outside of their bodies and this makes them less efficient pollinators. Many can be thought of as pollen thieves, but some are important pollinators. A few are pollen burglars, actively breaking in to unopened flowers (Banksias in the example shown) to remove the pollen. Some pollen thieves (Hylaeus hypoleucus and Hylaeus bicolorellus) are also shown on Persoonia and Lambertia respectively.
