  • Thanks Martyn Salt certainly works. I always carry a little plastic bottle of it and a pinch will make them drop off instantly. I then clean the wound with Betadine which I find reduces the itching.
    But it's stopping them getting a hold in the first place that's the problem. Your doughnut technique with salt sounds like a good idea.
  • I have done some walking in remote jungle regions in Borneo where at times I have had 70 to 80 leeches on me. I have tried various things to keep them off. Tying off long sleeved clothes and pants works but they are very restrictive and uncomfortable when wet and sweaty. I am thinking of trying Bioslyx comptession sportswear. Does anyone know if this would work? Can a leech bite through such material?
