Tim Hochgrebe is a photographer / videographer currently living in Byron Bay. He's devoted to increase our awareness of the wonderful and diverse marine life that surrounds us.
Tim originates from Germany where he finished his Biology degree BSc (Hons) before moving to Australia to complete his science education with a PhD (Sydney University).
He has been a keen diver and marine biology enthusiast for nearly 20 years, spent over three years as President of Sydney University Underwater Club, and now operates PLANULA Divers Retreat in Byron Bay as well as the most popular and comprehensive website on diving in Australia - www.underwater.com.au.
His video clips on this website were all captured at Julian Rocks Marine Reserve in Byron Bay and aim to remind us of the beautiful life beneath the sea. At the moment Tim uses the SONY 3 chip digital video cameras TRV-900 and the new SONY high definition camera HC-1 in IKELITE and TopDawg housings to produce his clips. He just finished a fantastic film called "Marine Passions - submerge the senses" - an amazing visual journey and must-have DVD.
