Four new species of limestone-associated land snails have been recently jointly described from the Katherine District in the northern part of the Northern Territory by scientists from the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in Darwin and the Australian Museum.

This species, along with the three other species that are described in the same work, has a very restricted occurrence, being found on just a few outcrops of limestone. Its entire range is only 2.6 km2! This species, discovered in 2009, was named in honour of Charles Darwin (1809–1882), commemorating the 150th anniversary of the publication of his seminal work On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection.
