Rough Squirrelfish, Pristilepis oligolepis

A 31.5 cm FL Rough Squirrelfish caught on hook and line at a depth of about 16 m, Sir John Young Banks, off the mouth of the Shoalhaven River, New South Wales, 14 January 2012.

The fish looks similar to the Giant Squirrelfish, Ostichthys japonicus, but can be distinguished by the shape of the premaxillary groove.

The species is known from off south-western Western Australia and New South Wales.
