Hairtail Blenny fang

The mouth of a 22 cm long Hairtail Blenny that washed up on the rock platform at Long Reef, New South Wales, December 2001 and found by S. Jackson.

The mouth can open much further than seen in the image. The huge fang is positioned towards the front of the lower jaw. Behind this is a smaller fang projecting from the upper jaw. The fish is registered in the Australian Museum fish collection (AMS I.41101-001).
