This design is by Isabella Bellotti & Gracen Steinepreis from Santa Maria College in Perth. Gracen models their dress which has plenty of blue and a long vibrant train, in homage to the male Blue Bird of Paradise. Their design title is Paradisea abluo. In Latin abluo means to wash or clean, and the girls have made a theme of blue or white items for domestic cleaning! See the tarpaulin, plastic shopping bags, dish-washing cloths, garbage bags, plastic gloves and washing basket. In emulation of the male Blue Bird of Paradise, the dress train fans and is more varied in colour closer to the body, and the bodice is relatively plain. The fly swat shades the face and echoes a beak. The egg-shaped balls of steel wool atop the headpiece mark their wish for these beautiful birds to be born as strong as steel, for they are listed as a vulnerable species. Other materials that are present for utility or decoration are a headband, wire, velcro, safety pins, beads and gardening string.
