Binoculars presented by staff to Australian Museum Curator Edward Ramsay. 1883

The Great International Fisheries Exhibition was held in London during 1883. Before he left to supervise the Australian exhibits, Curator, Edward Pierson Ramsay was presented with these binoculars by the staff of the Australian Museum. It is a sign of the high regard with which they held Ramsay. Although he was a highly regarded zoologist Ramsay’s scientific passion lay with ornithology, hence the gift of the binoculars. The binoculars (MA182)are part of the Australian Museum Archives Collection.
