Ad giz ancestral figure E017498

An ochred human figure, with the spear missing. It is made of plant fibre with a pith head and one turtle-shell ear. It is a miniature representation of a Piebre District ancestor called Ganome. It is known as ad giz by the Meriam people and is associated with ancestral rituals. It was collected by John Bruce and presented by Percy G. Black in 1908. Size: 13x25cm.
