'It rained often on the south coast. We walked over two km in the rain to get to a swamp location, only to find it inaccessible due to flooding. There was lots of mud and mosquitoes at this locality, but the most interesting feature was a saltwater crocodile which the locals said was lurking nearby. There was a sign warning us about them, but it was more from the point of view of stopping people from hunting crocodiles rather than people being eaten by them.'
