Its head covered in ‘blood’ from previous victims, a ladybird larva devours a juicy aphid while more victims wait their turn to become dinner. Aphids are so intent on sucking sap from plants they seem oblivious to predators—or photographers, allowing me to get to within a few centimetres with a 100 mm marco lens.
