In his capacity as President of the Vaucluse Debating Society, Grice arranged for Chief Scientist Professor Takeda to give a lecture on "Antarctica and Science".
The lecture was delivered in Japanese, but was interpreted in English by Mr Okimoka, one of the Japanese merchants of Sydney. Alderman Forsyth was there and moved the vote of thanks to Takeda, praising the soundness of the mission. Many Japanese residents of Sydney attended, along with all the expedition members.
