Repairing a spear from the Admiralty Islands

Kate is treating a spear from the Admiralty Islands before it goes on display at the Casula Powerhouse Art Centre. The obsidian tip was loose and in danger of falling out, so Kate clamped the spear into position and used a syringe to introduce adhesive into the join. An archivally stable acrylic resin adhesive was used and the action of gravity pulled the adhesive into the join. Once the adhesive was dry, the obsidian tip was secure and the spear was ready to be packed for transport the the exhibition venue.
