Additional information
By the time Hurley visited Goaribari Island metal tools had replaced those of ground stone. He persuaded an older man to demonstrate how to sharpen a damaged blade. 'After spending six hours on the grinding it showed very little improvement.' Traditionally the Goaribari people obtained these stone tools through trade links with people in the interior of Papua.
