Sisi (necklace) and i-taube tabua (pendants), Fiji
Acquired 1888
This type of necklace is known as a sisi, and is comprised of both tabua and pendants known as i-taube tabua. These pendants are reputed to have been carved in the form of female sexual features, and it is possible that they represent fertility.
