Additional information
Hurley's party finally persuaded men from Dukoif longhouse to approach the Eureka in their canoes and the two sides engaged in lively trade. Hurley and McCulloch acquired 151 arrows and other items in exchange for sugar, salt, empty food tins and petrol cans. The canoe on the right has an empty food tin in it. Some of the men found the petrol cans handy substitutes for wooden hand drums.
