Image: Mantis Fly - Denis Crawford
Mantis flies (Mantispidae) are not flies or mantids, but a kind of lacewing with mantis-like forelegs. I was happy to be able to capture its iridescent eyes with my flash system.

congrats on being a finalist .. and thankyou ..
i've been looking to find out what these little insects are and wasnt able to identify them .. i thought they were a praying mantis but was never sure ... its a great photograph .. :)
