I was photographing this grasshopper (katydid) because I was interested in the leaf design of its wings. After a while it started what appeared to be grooming itself - licking its antennae, curling itself around to lick its abdomen, cleaning its feet. And then, unexpectedly, it started to secrete a liquid from its mouth, forming this droplet. The grasshopper eventually placed the droplet on a leaf.
