Image: Kate inpainting a tissue repair
Kate uses water colour paints to tint the Japanese tissue paper used to repair broken plant fibers. Tinting or inpainting the tissue makes the repair blend in, and less distracting for the viewer. A steady hand is needed to ensure the water colour paints only go on the added tissue and not the original plant fiber.
