This ‘Batik Tulis' is hand-drawn cloth from Cirebon in West Java. Probably made in 1965, it displays a mixture of traditional and Chinese-influenced motifs from Cirebon. The pattern, called 'Batik Wilejeung Rawuh ' depicts the rocks and temples, which represent the union of heaven and earth. Also featured is a stylised version of the traditional Javanese 'Lar' or ‘single Garuda wing’ pattern. Size: 242 x 105cm.
