Hoverflies mating mid-air - Peter Firus, Secondary Scool 2007

An incredibly difficult shot to take, I spent three painstaking days chasing these tiny flies before I managed to capture this photo. Due to their small size (12 mm) it was only a matter of millimetres between being in and out of focus – so a steady hand was imperative!
