Hanging out to dry - Isabella Fanous - Winner in the Primary School Category, 2011.
This robber fly was balancing on the clothes line in our backyard. In my photograph it seems to be holding on very tightly with its little, yellow feet. It is very hairy, has huge green and yellow compound eyes, and interesting textures. This robber fly has inspired me to look more closely at insects and their amazing features.

hey isabella .. what a fantastic shot .. and many congratulations .. !!
i've taken numerous photos of the same insect and i'm about 99.9% sure its a robberfly and not a cadis fly .. check it out ..
taking photographs of insects in their natural environment is not the easiest type of photography .. i reckon you've got a wonderful future as a photographer ..
