One of the most interesting finds of the fieldtrip to Mindoro Island, Philippines in 2000, was the eel Glenoglossa wassi. The species has a fish-like lure attached to a transparent 'rod' projecting from the floor of the mouth. The lure even has an 'eyespot'.

We were all impressed by how 'fish-like' the lure looked in the photographic tank as it moved up and down with the rocking of the boat.
The fish was identified by Dr David Smith of the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution.
