Image: Family candle
My significant cultural object is a cylinder candle made from standard wax and is bout 16 cm tall and 3.5cm wide. It has a wide, white ribbon wrapped around it and tied in a bow at the front. It is 17years old and has been owned by my mum. Eventually it will pass down to me or one of my brothers.
This candle was lit at my eldest brother James’ Christening, at mine, and again at Hugh’s, my youngest brother.
Before it was used at my Christening, it was lit at my grandfather’s funeral.
It means a lot to my family and it is planned that it will be used at my brothers and my children’s Christening.
