Notes

Next is Annelyse Lumley from the Northern Rivers area, a student of the Australian College of Professional Styling. Her untitled design is modelled by Laura Owen. Annelyse has cut a red tent tarp on curving lines, to make shapes reminiscent of a basket star, which is a type of brittle star. Those red pieces were sewn over a dress base made from pale, soft tulle. The resulting colour combination echoes the colours of the basket star species that inspired her. Annelyse chose to use tulle, so that the base would be as minimally noticeable as possible. The red shapes come to the fore, and in some places hang unconnected to the base, so that they curl away from it, for a three-dimensional coming-to-life effect.
