Notes

This design is by Milvy Linardi Lie from Sydney, who has been a student of the Raffles College of Design and Commerce. Vanessa Lane models this design, which springs from a fictional scene inspired by the birds of paradise generally... Imagine a glorious high prince of a bird dressed up for a ball, dreaming of attracting a love. His name is the title of this design – Bird Prinscavier – and this design is his ball attire. To start, Milvy made a base dress from a sheet of black plastic. It’s still visible in areas on the bodice. Milvy then folded pieces of MX newspaper and textured wall-paper into wing shapes. Most were taped onto to the dress base, while others were shaped into a hat. Pieces of CD’s were glued to areas of the bodice, providing focus areas to mesmerise a potential love. White straws were sewn on the bodice, to remind us at once of corsetry and of bird wings.
