E078194 club, wood / metal, south-eastern, Australia.
This wooden club is from south-eastern Australia. The club is carved from a single piece of wood. It has a straight handle with a pointed base. The diameter of the club increases towards the top to form the club's head. The head then tapers to a point. Towards the base, hatched incisions around the circumference of the club form a grip. A large section has been chipped from one side of clubs head. A metal ring has been inserted through holes drilled through the chipped area. Another metal ring has been inserted through two holes towards the base of the club. The club was collected by Alexander Morrison in the late 19th or early 20th Century. It was acquired by the Australian Museum in 1982.
