E076997 Club

E076997 club, wood, south-east, Australia.

This wooden club is from south-eastern Australia. The club has been carved from a single piece of wood. It has a straight handle which is ridged at the base. The club has a distinct triangular head. Each of the three faces of the triangular head features a carved horizontal ridge design. The untraditional design of the club may indicate it was made for the tourist market. The club was collected by Alexander Morrison in the late 19th or early 20th Century. It was acquired by the Australian Museum in 1979.
